What is a Word?

In English, some vowel letters do not always sound exactly like their letter names. Sometimes, a vowel can make a different sound depending on the word.
The letter U in the word umbrella is NOT pronounced as "yoo".
Instead, it sounds like: umbrella → "uhm-brel-la"
